Tina Yang, Physiotherapist

XiaoTing(Tina) Yang, PT, MSc, is a licensed physiotherapist in Ontario, Canada, who graduated from McGill University in 2015. Tina has been accumulated extensive clinical experiences as she worked in Ottawa Sport Medicine Center as an outpatient orthopedic PT, and in Ottawa Civil Hospital and Ottawa Heart Institute as an inpatient PT. She is currently working at BeiJing Chief Clinic as senior PT lead and cardiac rehabilitation PT consultant, dedicating in developing outpatient cardiac rehabilitation program in partnership with BeiJing AnZhen Hospital.
Course description
This two-day lecture and lab course is designed to prepare the participants to learn about cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention for cardiovascular disease, to conduct an evidence-based physical therapy assessment of an cardiology or post cardiac surgery patient/client, and to design an individualized, progressive, and effective exercise program to improve patient/client’s cardiopulmonary exercise function and capacity.
The lecture component includes pathologies of common cardiovascular diseases, introduction of cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention, and evidence-based principal of exercise prescription. The lab component includes demonstration and practice of standardized physical therapy assessment methods such as CPET, 6MWT and ISWT etc., and clinical inpatient treatment techniques. Case studies will be discussed and tested at the end of different topics in order to reinforce participants’ clinical reasoning.
